Job: Master Carpenter
Description: Birmingham Children's Theatre is seeking a skilled and trained Master Carpenter. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years professional experience, outstanding carpentry and layout skills, knowledge of stage rigging and safety, as well as metal working and welding experience. Applicants must display leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills, posses the ability to troubleshoot complex problems and had a positive record of shop organization and scheduling. Please list all stagecraft and backstage skills you possess when applying, in addition to any teaching experience. A degree in theatre is highly desired, however, comparable experience will be considered. The candidate must be a team player and have a positive and professional attitude. Salary and benefits DOE. Nine-month annual contract starts mid-August 2009 through mid-May 2010.
About us: Birmingham Children's Theatre is one of the oldest and largest Children's Theatres in America. The resident professional theatre company at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, AL, BCT produces 8 shows within its season for mainstage and tour productions.
